The Fast Freshman.

My son confided in me very few of his teammates know his name.

They just call him, "The Fast Freshman."

So to that note I say:

You make me proud.

I know you can hold your own.

But that doesnt mean I can't stop caring about you.

While I know you think you know it all, just understand that doesn't mean I will never stop offering you guidance wrapped in a blanket I call love.

I want you to remember that the wins shouldn't go to your head because sometimes in life it is our losses that teach us the most.

So be sure to take everything in stride, even if you are faster than most (wink wink).

Try and remember to slow down and take it all in; the world, the people, the feelings and the experiences.

Life, in and of itself, moves fast, so soak in as many moments as you can.

There will be good ones, bad ones, and also incredible ones.

Life is short.

Be sure to steep in your life without regrets and remorse.

That being said; life is essentially one big track meet.

Some days you will win.

Some days you'll lose.

And some days you may tie.

But what matters the most?

What matters the most is that you show up and try your best, because as long as you do; you will always win in the "long run," yes pun intended.

Know that no matter what "rat race" you choose to join, above all else know you are loved, admired, and adored, always.

So get after that goal and do it with grit determination and dedication.

Success is yours if you let it be, never forget that.

Don't let your failures and falters dictate your future.

Remember to let your losses be your teachers, and conversely be reminded that your wins should keep you humble.

With that said, I'll forever be waiting in the grandstands ready and excited to cheer you on.

(With profound advice ofcourse.)

XoXo,

M.
